Chiang Mai International School

Founded in 1954, CMIS is one of Chiang Mai’s longest-established international schools. It offers an American K–12 pathway with AP courses, a Christian heritage and an admissions policy welcoming different faiths. Its Wat Ket location is useful for families considering a city base. Check which AP subjects are actually running in the intended year and how new students are supported, rather than assuming an American label guarantees the same choices everywhere.

Public feedback: Current-parent and alumni comments are broadly positive about belonging and teaching: a March 2025 parent says their child loves CMIS; a June 2023 student review describes feeling at home. An undated parent survey praises academics and activities but describes facilities needing renovation. That last account cannot establish today’s campus condition. Ask about your child’s actual AP choices and the pressure/support balance.
