CNXlocal — Your Guide to Chiang Mai
Tha Sala
East-Side Diversity from Luxury to Local

Tha Sala

Running east of the Ping along the Kaewnawarat Road corridor, Tha Sala covers more territory than it first appears — and more variety. The southern stretch is where the high-concept lives, anchored by Dhara Dhevi Resort, one of the most celebrated luxury properties in all of Thailand. (The Promenada mall that once drew every expat here for the immigration office has since closed — immigration now sits at its main office near the airport.) The northern stretch is a different proposition — quieter, more residential, built around Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai and a solid cluster of established expat-friendly condos popular with families who want east-of-river access and hospital proximity without the price tag of riverfront Wat Ket. Not walkable by any measure, but the Superhighway makes access easy in all directions.
